About GOBEZ

Mobility, made in Ethiopia.

GOBEZ Bus Assembly & Manufacturing PLC is an Ethio-German joint venture building Ethiopia’s first private industrial bus production — in our own assembly plant in Bishoftu, Oromia.

Our story

The idea behind GOBEZ is simple: Ethiopia needs affordable, reliable buses — and they should be built in Ethiopia, by Ethiopians. Work on the transport concept began in 2021; in the years that followed we won partners for body, paint and technology and built and tested the first prototypes.

In July 2025 our first buses went on the road and GOBEZ was fully operational — as a supplier of diesel buses. One month later, Ethiopia banned the import of combustion-engine buses. We rebuilt our product portfolio and our supply chain around electric drives within a few months: since February 2026, GOBEZ has stood for a fully electric line-up from proven manufacturers, assembled in Bishoftu.

Today our machinery is installed, the first electric vehicle kits are on their way, and our focus is clear: the midi bus — the segment Ethiopia needs most, for schools, companies, cities and regional routes.
